Things don’t always go as expected...
Family portraits are my favorite; there is so much potential for capturing memorable family dynamics. This is especially true when children interact with one another. During the family session, I always begin by taking record images. These are ones that are more posed and looking into the camera. They are excellent for recording family history and gift-giving. Once I am satisfied with having that goal accomplished, I move on to what I really enjoy, capturing more creative art images.
During this particular session, the parents decided they wanted a Master Oil Interpretive Painting of the four boys. My primary goal was to capture believable lifestyle interactions that deliver the greatest emotional impact. One that speaks to the heart of the viewer.
Try as I may, getting all four boys at their best in one image was quite challenging. My best plan with active subjects is to take plenty of images to work with. In this particular award-winning portrait, I took the boy on the far left from one image and placed him in a second image. Once the replacement was done, I got the parents approval to proceed with the painting process.
As always, if you have questions regarding your own images or are interested in my creating an original one for you, I’m available to chat. Please call me at 919.781.7501.
