Amanda Carver says... In this painting I see their past, present and future. So thankful for it.
Dear Mr. Gray,
It was my life long desire to become a mom. I am so thankful to have been blessed by God with a caring husband and two beautiful daughters who have been a blessing and joy to our family. When they were five and three years old, I was honored to have the opportunity to have them photographed by you and ultimately be able to own a portrait, masterfully created by you that has hung in our home ever since.
As they are now both in high school, and I know that the days of having them here in these walls are numbered, I wanted to take a minute to share with you what their portrait has meant to me as I have watched them grow and thank you for using your talents to create something that will forever serve as a reminder of our family’s past, present and future. When I first saw our beautiful portrait, my daughters had already come so far and grown so much. But in their faces, I could see the years that had come before. It captured the innocence of their minds, the softness of their presence and the hopes and dreams that they carried in their hearts.
Looking at it, I could see their past. I could remember the first time that I laid my eyes on them, the way their newborn heads smelled, the late nights and their first words. All of it came rushing back to me. As they have grown, the portrait has always captured their present as well. In it, I can see the roots of their personalities. Personality traits that have held true as they have grown through all the stages of their lives. In the portrait, I can see my older daughter’s cautiousness in the way she grasped her sister’s hands; in the tilt of her head, I can see my younger daughter’s eagerness and the way she holds her emotions deep inside only letting them bubble over now and then.
You captured all of this when you painted their portrait at three and five years old. In this portrait, I have also always been able to see their future. The hopes and dreams they have for themselves and the hopes and dreams that my husband and I hold for them. I know that as they grow, as they spread their wings and as they move on to the greater plans that God has for their lives, I will always be able to look into this portrait and see all the memories, and all the hopes. Thank you for sharing your talents. Their portrait is an heirloom for us. It is a precious possession. The value of which is immeasurable. Thank you for this gift to our family. I always wanted to be a mom. My dream came true and you captured it and preserved it for us. We are grateful.
Sincerely,
Amanda Carver (Vince, Madeline and Eliza Grace)
