Before and After...
Someone asked where this image was taken. I was backstage in a small room as these ballerinas were getting ready to perform. My back was against the wall with a wide angle lens. Only had seconds to get the shot. There was no time to clean up the scene or even bring in proper lighting. The image was captured with natural overhead light. Not a pretty scene but I liked the composition and flow. I felt the image had merit to be greater with some work.
BEFORE
So, I did a digital painting with some unique brush work and what you see below is the finished art piece. I wanted your eye to go to the girls on the right so I made them with more detail. I softened the girls on the left with a feel of modern impressionistic brushstrokes. Painting out the cluttered background simplified it and kept the eye on the subjects. Using and repeating the colors that the girls were wearing in the background made it pleasing to the eye. Hope you like it. I'd love to hear what your comments and thoughts are.
